Probing chord progressions and playful riffs paired with observational lyricism that oozes emotional warmth and reassurance. A+ for headboy!
"In the heat of a turbulent summer, misrule reigned. Cement is about taking stock and refuge in the comfort of your friends and the people around you; and the rediscovery of friendship. It includes advice from Mars’ grandfather ‘don’t count the days it slows them down’ - a warning against wishing away life."
lyrics
Once
Or maybe even twice
You said to me
Don't count the days it slows them down you know
Look straight ahead and go the way you go
I knew
I knew you’d understand
When I said
I’ve stepped in wet cement and it is all up to my knees
Will you help me out its drying fast you see
Dry me out in the sun
Maybe someday i'll become
Bricks you could build a house with
Someone you could call a home
I don't know anyone
Closer to it
You’ve got something, is that a smile I see?
Gone
Until it comes again
And then we’ll see
Sometimes the things we say are really not so grandiose
Step back this time I will not come so
And if
You step in wet cement
Il get in too
We’ll write our names and laugh about the people that we knew
We’ll write our names and laugh about the people that we knew
Cold in the morning time
Sometimes a step behind
Wrap me in cellophane
I'll be good to go again
I think that everyone
sees straight through it
You’ve got something
Is that a smile I see?

Introduced to Divorce by their tour with Everything Everything this year and they were an instant favourite from the very first track. Such a unique sound. Services sounds great recorded but absolutely blew me away live, and I can't wait to see how they flourish from here. clockenfrau
"Flower Of Life" yanks riot grrrl south through the unmistakable garage psych sound indispensable to the last 20-odd years of rock music out of Los Angeles. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 2, 2023
Melodic alt-pop in the vein of Soccer Mommy is driven by winding guitar lines and augmented with dreamy shoegaze elements. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 14, 2021
I knew nothing about Squirrel Flower going into this. I loved the album front to back as it reminds me of so much music that I enjoy. Her beautiful voice is an awesome contrast to the fuzz of the guitars. It was tough to choose a favorite song. BobandoCommando
